The School has received annual Government funding of £19,160 to be spent on PE and sport provision. We have committed to using these funds, in addition to school funds, to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision across the school.

In recent years, we’ve refreshed and expanded our sports equipment for lessons and playtimes, ensuring children stay excited, engaged, and motivated to be active through a wide variety of new games and resources.

We allocate some funding to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, ensuring all children have access to a variety of sports beyond the school day. We also believe every child should have the chance to participate in competitive sport. Throughout the year, we enter numerous tournaments across a range of disciplines, giving pupils the opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience, and determination. We celebrate all our sporting achievements within our assemblies and showcase children’s efforts through badges and medals.

Alongside our school’s commitment to pupil leadership, our school council works with sports coaches and leaders to share pupils’ ideas and feedback on sport and physical activity. At the start of the term, our children voted on a new football kit for both boys and girls Corpus Christi Teams. We have also gathered information via a pupil survey, regarding how active our children are, the sports they participate in and their travel arrangements to school. We can then use this information to inform our extra curricular provision.

We also aim to inspire our children to fulfill their potential and to lead healthy lifestyles. As well as their two PE lessons a week, teachers encourage children to be active within lessons in the form of movement breaks and outdoor learning. We also allocate some of the funding towards bikeability and scooter training to support children in understanding how they can keep safe when participating in physical activities.

We also work with specialised sports coaches, to ensure that teachers are given regular training to ensure they are up to date with the PE  curriculum and with assessing the children in order to identify which children may require additional support and interventions such as developing their gross motor skills and balance through sessions in our OT club.
